Subsidized In-Home Care

Picture
Benefits of In-Home Care Services
One of the most important goals of health care is ensuring that ill, elderly, and disabled patients receive high quality, personal, and compassionate care. In-home care is designed to meet these needs by offering personalized service in the convenience of a patient's home.
In-Home Care Benefits for Patients
The number one benefit of in-home care is that it allows patients to receive personal care in the privacy and comfort of their own homes. For aging and home-bound individuals, in-home care makes it easy for them to remain as functional and independent as possible, providing a much higher sense of security and dignity. Receiving in-home care helps to reduce unavoidable readmission to the hospital, and studies have shown that patients recuperating from illness, injury, or surgical procedures heal more quickly and more successfully when recovering at home versus in a medical facility.
Homecare Benefits for Caregivers & Loved Ones

Family members often serve as the primary caregivers to their ill or elderly loved ones. In-home care provides much-needed assistance  to family caregivers, allowing them to get back to their lives and enjoy more quality time with their home-bound loved ones. Respite care from in-home care is also essential to care for family caregivers, reducing burnout, fatigue, and resentment.  Furthermore, with in-home care, families that are unable to serve as primary caregivers have the benefit of knowing that their loved ones are receiving professional, compassionate, and personalized care in the convenience of their own homes.
The primary benefits of home healthcare include:
• It's delivered in the comfort of the patient's home
• It makes it easier for family and friends to visit
• It promotes healing and reduces hospital infections
• It allows more freedom and independence
• It's more affordable than inpatient care
• It's tailored to the needs of each individual patient
• It reduces re-hospitalizations

Program Description
Many people are forced to hire private caregivers for themselves or their loved ones. The primary reason for this is cost. When hiring a private caregiver, there is no need to pay for liability insurance, worker's comp, tax deductions, or health benefits. Unfortunately, the person doing the hiring runs the huge risk of a private caregiver becoming injured on the job or injuring the person they are caring for. Also, there is no coverage for damaged property, theft, or any other complications. Hiring private caregivers who are not vetted and fingerprinted can expose seniors to abuse, neglect, or other harm. On top of it all, hiring a private caregiver, scheduling them, making payment arrangements, reporting their taxes, and retaining them is a full-time job in itself.

Caring Companions of America has partnered with in-home care agencies in your area to help support families or seniors needing in-home care during desperate times, such as after hospitalization, after injury, or care for end of life.  In-home care agencies are licensed businesses that employ caregivers and send them to the home of the person needing care. Professional certified nursing assistants or personal care attendants will assist with the activities of daily living
(non-medical). Activities can include but not limited to: preparing meals, assistance with eating, and bathing
Caring Companions of America’s objective is to provide subsidized services, through our partnered agencies, to seniors who are unable to afford the high cost of hiring a homecare agency.  Many low-income seniors cannot afford the services of an agency, which normally cost up to $125,000 per year for round the clock care, especially those who do not qualify for the comparable state program, In-Home Supportive Services. With the support of grants and private donations, we are able to subsidize these services for applicants who meet one of the two following requirements:
  1. Do not qualify for IHSS because of net worth and assets.
  2. Are able to cover 50% to 80% of their own homecare cost.
Working with a homecare agency provides higher quality care and accountability. It is essential for seniors to have access to agency care in order to live independently and safe at home. The financial assistance will provide the necessary aid for middle class seniors who lack this coverage from Medicare for the essential services.
